Celebrating Milestones...| Central Ma Lifestyle Family Photography Session

...is a time for joy and wonder.

I was so happy to have a lifestyle family session celebrating a one year birthday right in my hometown. It is hard sometimes to always acknowledge the beauty that is right in front of you and this town of mine has some lovey pockets of nature to explore. We started this session in little Maddie's home where she kept an eye on me the whole time to see what the lady with the big camera was up to. I adore when little ones want to snuggle in momma's arms and will show their curiosity about what's happening around them at the same time. Moments like these allow me to capture such sweet expressions between a child and their parent. After playing for a bit we bundled up to go and chase the late afternoon sun at our local park. This is where Maddie's personality showed! She went from giving daddy the cold shoulder about her previous nap to wanting to exchange magical yellow leaves with him. Their excited expressions and adoration for each other was so sweet to witness. It was a wonderful afternoon for this new family and a perfect way for me to end my fall family sessions.

It Was a Beautiful Day... | Boston Massachusetts Lifestyle Photography Session

...For Play!

Well hello there again to my new beloved town, Charlestown Ma. For this session, I found myself once again visiting an adorable family in this beautiful city during a crisp fall day. This session was really fun because there was so much play to be had. Once upon a time I used to be a teacher of little ones so train tracks, leaf throwing, peek-a-boo and running around are activities that I am right at home with. I met Sam and his family last year during the Santa mini sessions at Mockingbird Store in town. If you haven't checked this store out yet, stop over because you will love all of the unique items for expecting families and young children as well as offerings for locals like story hour and the annual Santa minis in the store front window. Here is an image of Sam and his mom from last year...

So sweet

So sweet

This year Sam's family had grown and they wanted to capture some images of them all together in their home as well as exploring the surrounding neighborhood. I had a blast getting to know them and love how all of these images show their love for one another. I also have two small children. They are not in diapers anymore and the exuberant play seems to have calmed down but I remember what it was like. It is overwhelming and wonderful all at the same time. This family right here is doing a wonderful job with the balance. I'm so glad I was able to witness that bond and freeze time for a moment to remember always.

I have missed updating this lifestyle blog! With the hustle and bustle of a very productive wedding season and then the holidays; I haven't had much time for updates. Life is slowly starting to get back to normal now and of course as soon as it does, I will be missing the busy.

This was a session that I did back in October when the leaves were still pretty spectacular. This lovely Charlestown family (have I mentioned my love for Charlestown?) wanted to have me come and capture images of their newest addition. Five month old Evelyn was a super sweet baby who only slept during my time there for all of 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes with her dad however are some of my favorite images. Not many things are as sweet as a zonked out baby in her daddy's strong arms. We spent some time hanging out in Evie's beautiful home and then ventured out to downtown Charlestown to capture the neighborhood during the very best time of year.

We had a wonderful afternoon and I am thrilled with the images I captured of this beautiful new family. Here is a peek:

I think that Charlestown is quickly becoming one of my favorite little Boston harbor towns. I do a lot of work over at the charming Mockingbird baby and maternity store. After seeing some of the images that I did for Mockingbird on Instagram, Maggie contacted me to come by for a family lifestyle session to celebrate her incredible one year old boy, Blake.

I met the whole family including their very stoic dog Knox on a warm September afternoon. I loved this session for many reasons but what stood out the most was how easy going Maggie and her husband Scott were about the having me there to document their life. If Blake wanted to play in the water, we rolled with it; if he wanted to play outside, we rolled with it. They were full of ideas which translated into beautiful images of two parents who are crazy in love with their kid. Blake is a sweet and curious one year old with big heart melting brown eyes. He is starting to get more confident on his feet and I can see him running around their home in no time. Many of these images are now some of my favorites that I have captured of lifestyle moments. Thank you for such a wonderful day Maggie, Scott, Blake and Knox (I think that pup was my new friend by the time we were done). This is what Lifestyle Sessions are all about...

I recently met a family who I instantly felt that I had known for years. We talked like old friends and shared stories of parenthood and marriage. Diana and John wanted a one year session for their darling little daughter, Charlotte. We started out by spending some time in their beautiful home watching Charlotte giggle and play and even get smooched by the family dog. We then took some balloons and headed over to the local park with gorgeous city scenery and enjoyed the late afternoon sunshine. I couldn't get enough of this baby and you can clearly see that these parents are over. the. moon. for her. I hope you had an amazing first birthday, Charlotte and I wish many many warm spring celebrations with all the cupcakes you could want in your future. You are going places little one.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable family of five. They will soon be on a journey to move from their home in Massachusetts and I could tell how much this place means to them. Babies were born here, memories were made here and it's so bittersweet to say goodbye. I'm glad that I was able to spend time with them and not only capture their home but also take a trip to the center of town to enjoy the local park, some ice cream and even the corner bookstore (a personal favorite of mine). Good luck to you and your boys, Susan. You are one lucky momma to have those silly, joyful and chaotic boys to travel with you. I can only imagine what adventures await you. :)

Mother... | Central Ma Lifestyle Maternity Photography Session

Hushed and sacred silence
fills the dawning sky
I ponder in this moment
of our journey which is nigh...

To say that this is a session that I am excited to share is an understatement. I was honored to be asked by my dear friend Lindsay to capture her pregnancy at her family's beautiful cottage deep in the woods of Western Ma. The quaint lake cottage has been in her family for many many years and is filled with a lot of history and a little bit of magic. We spent our afternoon sitting among the tiny wisps of flowers, walking the lake shore, chatting about their baby and feeding their puppy treat after treat (because she was such a good girl).

Lindsay was a dream to photograph. She chose incredible pieces to wear which all highlighted her amazing belly and added the right amount of color, texture and personality to her images. I am so happy that I was able to witness such sweet moments between these two before their family grows. They are going to be exceptional parents. I can imagine their wee little one in the upcoming years; running around the cottage, picking flowers for his or her momma and playing hide and seek with the pup. What an incredible life to have.

Traveling In The Company of Those We Love... | Massachusetts Lifestyle Family Photography Session

...Is Home in Motion

I have known Rick & Jenn for quite some time, however there are now hills and highways between us making it hard for us to visit on a regular basis. The last time that I saw Rick he mentioned that his daughter had just taken her first steps and we exchanged stories about raising sons who were around the same age. When they contacted me to tell me that they would be in Massachusetts visiting family and wanted a session, I jumped at the chance. Since that last exchange of parenting stories they have added a new baby daughter to the clan. I couldn't wait to meet all three of those beautiful babies. Unfortunately for us on the day of the visit the cold airs came zipping through making us all a little chilly, but we huddled together and even made it to two beautiful locations. I hope to continue this session by taking a ride to see them over the summer. Until then; here is a peek of some moments that melted my heart.

Today is Many Things...

Today has been a somber and reflective day for me. A very dear friend of mine has lost his courageous battle with cancer. While the strong Massachusetts winds shook the world around us last night, he left this world to be at peace. Today is also a day that I always respectfully acknowledge because it is the day that 21 years ago my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with diabetes. It is a disease that I am able to fight and I am so grateful that I can. Too many people I love have been lost to things that they are unable to battle and it's not fair. I have been more reflective today, more appreciative of what I have and a bit more desperate to hold onto those that I love. This was a moment that I captured while I was trying to get a new picture of myself to use on my website. He is still so little and still needs me so much all of the time. If I ask for a hug, he gives it. If I want to snuggle, he is the first one by my side. Today I have needed those comforts. I have fought my disease. I have climbed through hurdles. I have learned how to cope. My greatest wish has come true despite it all...I have become a mother. Sláinte to you and yours.

You Can Count on Me... | Massachusetts Lifestyle Family Photography Session

...like one, two, three.

It seems like yesterday when I visited Alexa to photograph her first born baby boy. I have known Alexa for many years and knew that she would approach this new role in her life with a ridiculous amount of sweetness and joy. I also believe that a very important quality in a parent is a great sense of humor. (After all having two kids in diapers I'm sure provides hilarious moments at times) I have laughed and laughed and laughed with this woman so I'm certain that her little ones are having a blast with her. We had a great session with 4 month old Nico on that first visit. He was full of smiles and drool. I just melted over him.

When I arrived at Alexa's house just over a year later to photograph her second boy, Luca I was so happy to see this momma surrounded by the love of her guys. This is a home filled with the curiosity of a toddler, the coos of an infant and two exhausted/happy parents. I had a blast letting big brother jump on the bed and cuddle with his best blanket while his little brother reached for his toes as well as his momma's face. They were simply amazing.

Thanks for a great session boys. I hope to see a lot more of you as you grow!

Oh those Baby Blues... | Central Ma Lifestyle Newborn Photography Session

...how I adore you.

I love when I get to revisit a family shortly after their maternity session to meet the newest family member. Baby John was bright eyed and ready for his debut in front of my camera. I enjoyed hearing all about his first few weeks home and how excited his parents (and doggy) were in welcoming him. Some of my favorite moments to capture during these sessions are the times when families are 'in between' looking to the camera and getting guidance from me. The in between times when the baby needs to have his back patted, or dad makes mom laugh, or the little one needs an outfit change...these are the best. As a story teller, I find the most beautiful stories are told in the everyday moments that make you a family. I really do love this job and pour my heart into creating a beautiful story that you will treasure for a lifetime. Please contact me to schedule your lifestyle family session.

Welcome to the world baby John.

Sweet Pea... | Central Ma Lifestyle Newborn Photography Session

...Apple Of My Eye.

I recently had a very sweet lifestyle newborn session with brand new mom and dad (Sam & Frank) who were so warm and welcoming to me. Along with a photographer to capture some of little Sofia's new faces and movements in the world; family came to visit that day as well. It was wonderful to hear everyone in Sofia's life oohing and ahhing over all of the little adorable details of her. Newborn babies being passed from arms to arms are moments that families rejoice about and there are not many times more relaxing than a sleeping baby in your arms. I was able to really get to know this beautiful family and capture moments of them all falling in love with their newest addition. I absolutely fell in love too! Mom and dad let me swaddle Sofia which I take some pride in doing. I love a good swaddle with a happy baby snuggled up inside. Thank you Sam, Frank and Sofia. I hope that we will stay in touch and I will get to see your sweet pea as she grows!

A Great Joy... | Central Massachusetts Maternity Photography Session

...is about to arrive.

I met Beth and Jared on a December day that was unseasonably warm. We spent some time in their beautiful home getting to know each other and hanging out with their sweet dog  (who happens to have the same name as my new puppy.) Then we moved to the center of town to explore some local history. Very rarely do I get to photograph clients so close to my own home and now I have a brand new go to place that I will be visiting again. Beth and Jared's images show the adoration that a husband has for his expecting wife. Jared was always looking at Beth and she was clearly smitten by this new baby that she hasn't even met yet. I was lucky to be able to spend this time with them. I wish them and their growing family many years of health and happiness.

Keep Your Head Up... | Central Massachusetts Lifestyle Family Photography Session

...Keep Your Love.

This wonderful in home lifestyle session with The Sullivan family occurred right before the holidays. Spending time with this crew definitely made me feel welcomed and cozy. We spent the afternoon running around the backyard and getting to know each other. A shy toddler is sometimes my favorite to capture. Little eyes glancing up from the comfort and safety of mom or dad is the sweetest. When we went inside to warm up there was an awesome impromptu music session which helped get the kids to feel comfortable. It was really great. This was followed by a personal tour of the kids rooms including every single favorite stuffed animal. The Sullivan family adore each other and each image told a lovely story about their relationships with one another. A family is young only once. These are the stories I love to tell. Happy New Year Sullivans.

Family is... | Central Massachusetts Lifestyle Family Photography Session

...Everything. Here is a peek at a wonderful recent family lifestyle session. When Melissa contacted me about photographing her family to celebrate the birth of their daughter; I couldn't wait to meet them. Melissa and I have been connecting via facebook for a while now about photography and I knew that we would "click" when we met. We scheduled our session on a beautiful fall day and I was honored to get a glimpse of their life together. Nursing, reading, hugging, playing, connecting...family is just magic.

Sometimes a Family Portrait... | Central Ma Family Portrait Photography Session

...can capture the personalities of your family members so perfectly. Here is just a moment of my time with the Rourke family who are some of my favorite people to photograph. These girls are full of personality and beauty. I love this snapshot because it shows the oldest trying to maintain some order with the newest puppy addition (yes, that's a puppy), the youngest ready to find another adventure (preferably away from the rest of us) and the middle child who was ready for her close ups at every moment. Just Perfect :)

When the kids want to... | Central Ma Lifestyle Photographer | Grandparents Session

...eat a giant apple through an entire session, run up and down hills to let out some energy, or throw some leaves around; I will 1,000% embrace those moments. Because they are the moments that you look back on and remember with a laugh. I am so honored to be able to capture them.

Thank you for a wonderful session Ali & Ryan. I am certain that your lovely grandparents were exhausted at the end of the day. I know that they treasure you and will also treasure these glimpses of you from when you were little.
