Celebrating Milestones...| Central Ma Lifestyle Family Photography Session

...is a time for joy and wonder.

I was so happy to have a lifestyle family session celebrating a one year birthday right in my hometown. It is hard sometimes to always acknowledge the beauty that is right in front of you and this town of mine has some lovey pockets of nature to explore. We started this session in little Maddie's home where she kept an eye on me the whole time to see what the lady with the big camera was up to. I adore when little ones want to snuggle in momma's arms and will show their curiosity about what's happening around them at the same time. Moments like these allow me to capture such sweet expressions between a child and their parent. After playing for a bit we bundled up to go and chase the late afternoon sun at our local park. This is where Maddie's personality showed! She went from giving daddy the cold shoulder about her previous nap to wanting to exchange magical yellow leaves with him. Their excited expressions and adoration for each other was so sweet to witness. It was a wonderful afternoon for this new family and a perfect way for me to end my fall family sessions.

It Was a Beautiful Day... | Boston Massachusetts Lifestyle Photography Session

...For Play!

Well hello there again to my new beloved town, Charlestown Ma. For this session, I found myself once again visiting an adorable family in this beautiful city during a crisp fall day. This session was really fun because there was so much play to be had. Once upon a time I used to be a teacher of little ones so train tracks, leaf throwing, peek-a-boo and running around are activities that I am right at home with. I met Sam and his family last year during the Santa mini sessions at Mockingbird Store in town. If you haven't checked this store out yet, stop over because you will love all of the unique items for expecting families and young children as well as offerings for locals like story hour and the annual Santa minis in the store front window. Here is an image of Sam and his mom from last year...

So sweet

So sweet

This year Sam's family had grown and they wanted to capture some images of them all together in their home as well as exploring the surrounding neighborhood. I had a blast getting to know them and love how all of these images show their love for one another. I also have two small children. They are not in diapers anymore and the exuberant play seems to have calmed down but I remember what it was like. It is overwhelming and wonderful all at the same time. This family right here is doing a wonderful job with the balance. I'm so glad I was able to witness that bond and freeze time for a moment to remember always.

I have missed updating this lifestyle blog! With the hustle and bustle of a very productive wedding season and then the holidays; I haven't had much time for updates. Life is slowly starting to get back to normal now and of course as soon as it does, I will be missing the busy.

This was a session that I did back in October when the leaves were still pretty spectacular. This lovely Charlestown family (have I mentioned my love for Charlestown?) wanted to have me come and capture images of their newest addition. Five month old Evelyn was a super sweet baby who only slept during my time there for all of 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes with her dad however are some of my favorite images. Not many things are as sweet as a zonked out baby in her daddy's strong arms. We spent some time hanging out in Evie's beautiful home and then ventured out to downtown Charlestown to capture the neighborhood during the very best time of year.

We had a wonderful afternoon and I am thrilled with the images I captured of this beautiful new family. Here is a peek:

I think that Charlestown is quickly becoming one of my favorite little Boston harbor towns. I do a lot of work over at the charming Mockingbird baby and maternity store. After seeing some of the images that I did for Mockingbird on Instagram, Maggie contacted me to come by for a family lifestyle session to celebrate her incredible one year old boy, Blake.

I met the whole family including their very stoic dog Knox on a warm September afternoon. I loved this session for many reasons but what stood out the most was how easy going Maggie and her husband Scott were about the having me there to document their life. If Blake wanted to play in the water, we rolled with it; if he wanted to play outside, we rolled with it. They were full of ideas which translated into beautiful images of two parents who are crazy in love with their kid. Blake is a sweet and curious one year old with big heart melting brown eyes. He is starting to get more confident on his feet and I can see him running around their home in no time. Many of these images are now some of my favorites that I have captured of lifestyle moments. Thank you for such a wonderful day Maggie, Scott, Blake and Knox (I think that pup was my new friend by the time we were done). This is what Lifestyle Sessions are all about...

I recently met a family who I instantly felt that I had known for years. We talked like old friends and shared stories of parenthood and marriage. Diana and John wanted a one year session for their darling little daughter, Charlotte. We started out by spending some time in their beautiful home watching Charlotte giggle and play and even get smooched by the family dog. We then took some balloons and headed over to the local park with gorgeous city scenery and enjoyed the late afternoon sunshine. I couldn't get enough of this baby and you can clearly see that these parents are over. the. moon. for her. I hope you had an amazing first birthday, Charlotte and I wish many many warm spring celebrations with all the cupcakes you could want in your future. You are going places little one.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable family of five. They will soon be on a journey to move from their home in Massachusetts and I could tell how much this place means to them. Babies were born here, memories were made here and it's so bittersweet to say goodbye. I'm glad that I was able to spend time with them and not only capture their home but also take a trip to the center of town to enjoy the local park, some ice cream and even the corner bookstore (a personal favorite of mine). Good luck to you and your boys, Susan. You are one lucky momma to have those silly, joyful and chaotic boys to travel with you. I can only imagine what adventures await you. :)
